Helen's philosophy includes, "Any occasion can justify having a party, and any party can make an ordinary day a holiday." This occasion happened to be a reunion of girls who had gone to school together from kindergarten to high school in Mobile, Alabama.
Setting the Stage for Helen included a tablecloth with a crab-checkered pattern, fish-shaped plates, glass fish decorations in the center along with glass fish bubbles for emphasis. Helen served her Contessa shrimp dish in theme-appropriate abalone shells.
Helen is 84 years old, and is a retired physician. Helen says, "Cooking is probably my favorite creative outlet—particularly appealing because it seems to please others as well as myself."
